DSC Wiring for Futaba 9C
by Miles Simmons
Background:
In May of 2003, I purchased a DSC cable for my 9C radio and for 2
months I made several attempts to get it to work with my radio. After
two months of frustration, I posted a message on RCU and after much
debate, I realized that my DSC cable from Futaba was not wired correctly.
The transmitter module needed to be removed to use the cable. I found
a work around that will allow you to use the cable with the module
installed without the RF section being turned.
Correction:
Only three wires are needed to make the DSC function work. Connect
the DSC control line (white wire) to the signal out line of the transmitter
(Pin 3). Connect the receiver ground (black wire) to ground of the
transmitter (Pin 2). Last, you need to jumper the transmitter battery
to the switched power circuit. (Pin 4 to Pin 5) This is the connection
that turns on the transmitter without powering up the RF circuit.
