Da Hangar - Hangar 9 Extra 330s
Return to Index
I decided to assemble my Hangar 9 Extra 330s with the BME 102 for power. It flew it's maiden flight on
April 6th, 2006. I decided to use the Hangar 9 AnglePro 4-in-1 Digital Throw / Incidence Meter (HAN192)to set up the plane. This is an excellent tool that everyone should own and use. I can perform 4 - one second aileron rolls on an up-line without the plane loosing track.
During flight 267 (11/5/06) one of the two bolts that hold the carburetor on broke and I had a dead stick landing. During the diagnosis, I inadvertantly opened the gap on my left side cylinder. The engine ran but only on once clyinder. Once the gap was reset, then engine was adjusted and it ran great! Today 12/3/06 on my 309th flight, my left wing exploded approaching the runway during a high speed pass. The explosion was so violent only the aileron was found. The plane and engine are totaled. This was a great bird and will be missed.
