Planes in my Hangar!
as of April 11, 06
Planes Flown Comments

Hanger 9 Extra 330s This plane is the first to be constructed with an incidence meter. It completed it's perfect maiden flight on April 6th, 2006. With a BME 102 for power, it balances perfectly and is a joy to fly.
Hanger 9 Sukhoi I installed my BME 102 engine into my Hangar 9 Sukhoi and flew the maiden flight on July 24th, 2005. The plane is very nimble but with the BME 102 it is very tail heavy.
Hanger 9 Cap 232 I purchased this plane from John Roberts on June 11th, 2004. This Cap has a BME 102 with 3 bearing crank and BME mufflers. MSC 26x10 propeller. I presently get 5750 rpm using the MSC 26x10 propeller. After 50 flights, I changed to a 26x10nx propeller and now get 6330 rpm. The engine unloads nicely in the air. I can now run with the big dogs!!!
Wild Hare RC Edge I have completed the assembly of my Wild Hare RC Edge. This ARF was very easy to assemble. The maiden flight was 12/28/03 and it was very successful. I am flying this plane with a Brison 3.2 c.i. engine. While this is more power than needed, flying is typically done at half throttle or less.
GP Wagstaff 300s My Patty Wagstaff Great Planes Extra 300s is under construction. This plane had a Brison 2.4 c.i. engine until November 28, 03 when I change it out for a Brison 3.2 c.i engine. I now have unlimited vertical and will be looking for a good propeller for this plane.
GP Giles 202 ARF #2 Vern Doty assembled my 2nd Giles ARF and put Brison 2.4 c.i. engine in it. This plane flies great but is really heavy. The engine is turning an APC 20x10 propeller at 7400 RPM. The ailerons are very responsive and setting the CG will be critical with this much weight. Initially the CG was at 10-3/8 inch from the T.E. Now the CG is at 9-1/8 and the plane is nimble. I have had it as far back as 8-7/8 but the plane's low speed handling was a little chaotic. Following my 97th flight (9/2/02), I notice a weakening of the sheeting near the saddle. I removed the covering and noticed a crack. I have glued and glassed the crack and the plane is back in the air. I plan to fly this plane for another 100 flights.
GP Giles 202 ARF #1 Vern Doty assembled my Giles ARF and put my YS140FZ engine in it. On 4/21/02, I sold the YS140FZ to a guy in Texas. I sold the plane in October 2002 to a guy in Tennessee.
GSP Edge 540T This plane was assembled by Vern Doty and has my YS120NC rebuilt after throwing a pin in the piston. I have yet to fly this plane but it is abstract in its look. I will write more later when I get the plane in the air.
Midwest Extra 300 I purchased a used Midwest 300s from Rich Bennell. The plane has a Zenoah G45 turning a 20x8 Zinger propeller. The Reebok design is impressive. The engine is not as strong as the Brison 2.4 c.i. but does pull the plane around effectively. I have sold the plane to reduce my inventory and to fund assembly of my Patty Wagstaff Great Planes Extra 300s.
Epic Extra 60 RTF One of my first ARF's was an Epic Extra 300 S., with a Super Tigre G90 engine. My review of this plane can be seen HERE! This is a very good plane, that was very easy to fly. It took me about 5 hours to assemble and it is very responsive. I have put in 42 flights and this will definitely be my sports flyer. I have completed the disassembly of this plane and have inspected it for problems. While no problems were found, I did make several modifications. I have replaced all of the "Z" bends with clevises. The plane is well built and is hard to stall on landings. If you order one from Epic, please tell them you found it here on this web site!
Ohio RC 300L One piece wing ~ 72 inch span. YS 1.20NC, Futaba and JR coreless, metal gear servos. Tru Turn spinner; APC 16/6. Monokote white, blue and circus pink, fiberglass cowl and wheel covers. Plane flys extremely well. On 11/3/01, I was pulling out of a downline after executing a tail slide and the plane snapped instead of recovering. On the second attempt to recover, it snapped a second time and it went in. The elevator was set to minimum throws.
CGB Sukhoi 26mx Well after the 110th flight (8/26/01), the plane went into a tree and is totaled. The consensus at the flying field is that the left elevator half broke or was not effective and the idiot holding the transmitter (me) was so fascinated at the time that he didn't use the ailerons to compensate for the roll.
My Trailer On September 28th, 2002, I purchased a used trailer to ferry my planes around.
